David Maulik, an instructor at Maker Space 307, found an intelligent way of producing some STEMFIE parts more quickly by laser-cutting the braces and washers. In other words, any amount which is a 1/4 of the STEMFIE BlockUnit size can be made by laser-cutting or stamping out of sheet material measuring roughly 3 mm in thickness. In his test, David made parts from acrylic (2.90 - 3.05 mm), 3 mm birch ply (3.02 - 3.25mm), and 1/8" MDF (3.10-3.20mm).
Laser-cutting is an excellent example of how the community can act to evolve the STEMFIE construction set toy! Stay tuned for more new stuff and #Stemfie3D project builds!
